Welcome to the Body Politics Newsletter.

Here, we will talk about all things related to the fight for full body autonomy for all. We’ll talk about fun things like sex, masturbation, pleasure, emotions, but we’ll also talk a lot about hard topics, like assault, harassment, rape culture, rape myths, catcalling. All of these things are related under body politics, because at their core, they’re about our body autonomy. Body Politics is an umbrella term for how our society and culture treat our bodies.

Each Body Politics issue will be a combination of research, history, theory, and personal experience. The ultimate goal is to eliminate rape from our society (yes it’s possible) and to secure body autonomy for all.

About Mary Morgan

My name is Mary Morgan, and I am a writer, artist, activist and scholar focusing on Body Politics. Originally from Buffalo New York, I now live in London. Previously I lived in Beirut, working as the UK Foreign Office’s communication lead on Syria, and prior to that I worked in international public diplomacy in D.C. I have a BA from the University of Richmond, an MA in Journalism from Georgetown University, and an MFA in Photography from the University of the Arts London. My dissertation for UAL focused on the history of rape culture and rape myths, and how false representation of rape, rapists and victims perpetuates rape culture.

Some things I love: dancing enthusiastically, eating in baths, binging tv series, talking loudly, swearing loudly, disco balls, sunbeams, cold red wine, really good coffee, anything chocolate, the word “cunt.”
